Longevity and general information

The life of the incandescent lamp sets a limit on the temperature. Because the metal of the bending wire evaporates over time, this results in a reduction of the light output by 10 to 20%.

For a halogen lamp, various ways have been worked on to extend the life of the filament and to increase the light output. Halogen bulbs get much hotter than conventional incandescent bulbs. If people touch the lamp with their fingers, there is a chance that the organic residues that remain on the lamp will give brown spots when burning due to charring. These dark residues cause a greater heating of the lamp, which considerably shortens its life.
